Aquila Altera ensemble

The ensemble Aquila Altera was founded in 1997 at L'Aquila, with the aim of disseminating knowledge of Ancient Music from the Middle Age up to the Renaissance. Building on the extensive experience and background of the performers, Aquila Altera aims to spread and promote knowledge, of Ancient Music and to conduct musical research, to create historically correct performances. To achieve this, the group uses reproduction instruments of the era exclusively.
Moreover Aquila Altera pay attention to consider and execute the large sacred and secular, vocal and instrumental production collected in medieval and of the renaissance codes written by composers from the Italian district of Abruzzo.
Among the events realized in such sense they are to notice in 2002 the incision of the CD “Menando gli anni – Medioeval Music in Abruzzo between medioevon and renaissance, with the association “Le Cantrici di Euterpe”; in 2004 the production of the concert "O Maria quanto scy bella – laudi del popolo aquilano", and in 2007 the first absolute execution of the "Codice di Rocca di Mezzo" performed for the concert season of the " Officina Musicale delle Rocche G. Scotese", and engraved with the collaboration with the District of “Rocca di Mezzo” (AQ) and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage – Discoteca di Stato.
L 'ensemble is sufficiently trained musicians from 5 until you reach a wider number of artists according to the needs of the programs.

In 2008 the group was honored to begin the demonstrations of the 714 “Perdonanza Celestiniana” holding a concert to an audience of over 3,000 people.
Aquila Altera has collaborated on musicological conferences for several Italian universities and institutions: Concert and conference "Restoration and enhancement of the sound: the musical code of Rocca di Mezzo" - European University Centre for Cultural Heritage - Library Casanatense.
